In the wake of his attacks on Georgetown Law Student and contraception advocate, Sandra Fluke, the National Organization for Women (NOW) has renewed its attempts to end Limbaugh’s radio show. However, what NOW and other anti-groups fail to consider is that Rush and his supporters will refuse to be told by leftist and feminist groups what speech is acceptable. Furthermore, if any organization was able to shut down another because it expressed ideas it was not in favor of, the United States would no longer be a place of democracy, intellectual debates, and freedom of choice. Yes, Rush’s comments about Fluke were uncalled for and understandably have cast him in an unfavorable light, but it is not the job of NOW to decide what can be said over the air or not. However, this feminist group is making the most progress of any attempt to silence Rush, with differnent chapters gaining the support of local radio stations and a website that allows followers to donate to the cause.
