Duke installs solar panels at Maple View

To help it comply with the North Carolina Renewable Energy Efficiency Portfolio Standard (REPS), Duke Energy has installed a few solar panels over at Maple View Farms, just northwest of Chapel Hill.  Back in April, Duke announced the selection of the Maple View site, and it’s recently been completed.

Look for our upcoming report on the efficacy of REPS-related projects like this – we will evaluate the desirability of charging North Carolina energy consumers higher electricity rates to support technology that may not be completely mature. Duke expects its ten distributed solar energy sites to add about about 4 megawatts of capacity to its 19,000 megawatts of existing capacity.
