"Tik Tok" being number 1 on our playlist? This is an absolute disgrace to this university and we deserve to lose all student government funding and our office just for that.

It's sad that, when people think of disembowelment for ritual suicide, they typically only think of the Japanese. The Romans did this without any Japanese influence.

The Japanese are more famous for it in the USA however, most likely due to World War 2.

        Yep:

"The, when [Cato] was alone, he stabbed himself in the stomach, but, owing to his now inflamed hand, failed to strike home. He fell off his bed to the floor, making a loud noise. His son and the servants ran in and found Cato unconscious, covered with blood and with his bowels protruding from his stomach. A doctor tried to replace them and sew up the wound. Cato came to and realized what was happening. He pushed the doctor away, tore open the incision and pulled his bowels out again, after which he soon died. He was 48 years old."

Come to think of it, Mark Antony committed suicide in the same manner. However, if I recall correctly there were other Roman figures who chose different methods so it doesn't seem to have been as ritualized as in the Bushido code of Japan.
