Iran Crisis?

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is urging the US to take a stand against Iran. With news of a new Iranian nuclear facility that the government has been hiding from the UN, concern is growing in Israel. Israel has maintained its belief for years that Iran has been developing nuclear weapons. Israeli Foreign Minister, Avigdor Lieberman, has stated that this new discovery leaves no doubt about the fact that Iran is stocking up on weaponry.

“This removes the dispute whether Iran is developing military nuclear power or not and therefore the world powers need to draw conclusions,” Lieberman told Israel radio.  “Without a doubt, it is a reactor for military purposes not peaceful purposes.”

President Obama responded to the new finding of the plant by boldly stating that Iran needed to show more transparency. You think?  Also, he threatened them with harder “sanctions”. I am sure the Iranians are shaking in their boots now. For too long the U.S. has turned the other cheek in regards to Iran’s development of nuclear weapons.

The US has been a close ally with Israel for years. It will be interesting to see how Obama responds. He cannot merely sit on the fence any longer. To intensify the situation, Iranian President Ahmadinejad said his country had done nothing wrong. So, I guess hiding nuclear weaponry from the UN is no problem, right?

Tell that to Israel. Ahmadinejad has made numerous references to the destruction of Israel. Iran would like nothing more than wiping Israel off the face of the Earth.

Oh, but Iranian officials are insisting that the nuclear plants are just for power plants not weapons. What a relief.

In all seriousness, the U.S. must make up its mind on the Iranian situation. Will we wait until there has been a nuclear strike on Israel before we take action? I sincerely hope the President will show some backbone and not tolerate nuclear proliferation in Iran. The threat is too great.

The time has come for action. If not now, when?

Right On! The U.S. cannot take a backseat on this one. We need to stand up and do the right thing. Israel is our friend, and we need to protect our friends.
