Member of the European Parliament Daniel Hannan delivers a rousing speech in the European legislature. He condemns over-spending in good times that made Britain unable to pay for expenditures in bad times. “The truth, Prime Minister [Brown], is that you have now run out of our money.”
Mr. Hannan authored “The Plan: Twelve months to renew Britain”, which advocates local government and slams the failures of socialized sectors of the British economy. Ironically, another book called “The Plan” – by hyper-partisan statist White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel – calls for European-style socialization of the American economy. Looking out over the political landscape, I see Mr. Emanuel’s book being read first, and Mr. Hannan’s after the former fails to produce results. How sad.
